John C. Kenny

John C. KennyJohn C. Kenny, the firm’s founder, has been practicing law in the State of Florida for over 14 years. Mr. Kenny graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelors Degree in 1990 and obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from Florida State University College of Law in 1994. Over the last 14 years he has focused his practice on complex and challenging family law cases. His extensive litigation experience includes divorce cases, child support, alimony and paternity cases.

Understanding the needs of the client requires listening to each and every client. It is also helpful in having experience, including being a parent yourself, to understand the challenges children can present to family law cases. Mr. Kenny has two children, ages seven and five, in which lessons are taught each and every day. In addition to the skills learned by his children, as well as those he has honed in the courtroom, Mr. Kenny is continually applying his efforts to improve our community. As both the founder and past president of the Midtown Merchants Association, Mr. Kenny remains committed to making Midtown Tallahassee a better place to live, work and enjoy. Whether it is being Teen Court Judge, or actively participating in local high school mock trials teams, Mr. Kenny believes being invested in our community allows the firm to better
understand the needs of our clients.

Making the decision to hire a lawyer is a both a personal and professional one. Professionally the attorney needs to be skilled in the particular area which you need representation. Family law is different from any other type of practice and requires individuals who can excel in this particular area. In deciding upon your family law attorney, ask the attorney his or her qualifications and make sure you have a comfort level with the amount of experience he or she has practicing family law. In addition, it is a personal decision. Please contact our office at 850/224-9092 or email Mr. Kenny at john@johnkennylaw.com to see if both personally and professionally you feel comfortable in allowing him to assist you with your family law matter.

Summer R. Nichols

Summer R. NicholsSummer R. Nichols recently joined the Law Offices of John C. Kenny as our newest attorney to practice in Family law. Mrs. Nichols received her Bachelor’s Degree in 2001 and her Master’s Degree in English from Florida State University in 2005. Her outstanding achievements at Florida State won her the Florida Governor’s Scholarship to attend Florida Coastal School of Law, where she earned her Juris Doctor Degree in the spring of 2008. As expected, Mrs. Nichols excelled once again in law school, graduating in the top 20% of her class, obtaining the coveted Dean’s List, and was chosen as a Fellow for the Florida Bar Foundation and member of the Pro Bono Board. Her commitment to assisting others was further reflected when she was honored by her faculty with the Florida Bar Student Services Professionalism Award and the Dean’s Community Service Award. Mrs. Nichols’ extensive college and graduate school background in English propelled her to top honors and a Certification in Advanced Legal Research, Writing, and Drafting.

Mrs. Nichols gained a wealth of experience while volunteering her services at Three Rivers Legal Aid in Jacksonville, Florida, Jacksonville Area Legal Aid, and the Family and Child Advocacy Clinic during her second and third years of law school. While in the Clinic, Mrs. Nichols handled many cases, including dissolutions of marriage, child custody, and termination of parental rights. She appeared in multiple court hearings for motions, final hearings, and trials.

Since becoming a member of the Bar in 2008, Mrs. Nichols continues to achieve excellence in her representation of our clients. Within one month of her arrival, she won her first appeal before the First District Court of Appeals, and consistently secures favorable outcomes for her clients. As a little girl, Mrs. Nichols would assist her parents in her family business. As a result, the experience taught her the value of putting clients’ needs first and exceeding client expectations. The people she meets with in her office every day are going through some of the most difficult and emotional times of their lives, and she understands how important it is for them to feel comfortable with her and place their trust in her skills.
